Oh finally...we disagree!!  Blegh, blegh, blegh.  I'll take a nice clean pool over the ocean ANYDAY!  Especially a nice clean (albeit still slightly salty) pool right BY the ocean.  Ha.  Although then again, I'm thinking of the dirty ocean off the coast of South Georgia where the water is full of invisible things that sting you (or perhaps they're entirely visibile, but you'd never know it because the water is oh-so grossly MURKY!)  Thinking back to the gorgeous, crystal clear ocean water in the Caribbean worthy of scuba diving to investigate all the beautiful life down there, I guess I'd have to agree with you.  :) 

I agree with you on most days!- The ocean! Offering a guess here as to why you don't live near this thing you love? Because you love.......hmmm.....peace and quiet, mountain views, and that star-filled sky right where you are? (try to find all that near/over many oceans relatively close????)

When we stayed on Maui (more than a decade ago), we were at a beach that was like swimming in a big aquarium. Rainbows of fish, and even a sea turtle came to swim with us. I'd give up the mountains for that. Now, to win the lotto.... ;)
